"Even within states of crisis and stagnation, the possibility for transformation and renewal may still emerge."
Mariam Shergelashvili, Art Historian, 2026
Standstill is an experimental video-performative work by Kristine Tusiashvili that focuses on physical exhaustion, emotional stagnation, and the fragile sense of hope that still persists within such a condition. The work reflects a moment when the desire for change is strong, yet the ability to act remains temporarily suspended.

Within the video and photographic installations presented in the exhibition, the artist's body, wrapped in orange fabric and almost disappearing into the environment, moves slowly across a cold concrete staircase. The architectural space becomes a reflection of an internal state: stagnation, distance, and emotional weight. Despite the attempt to move forward, the body remains suspended at the threshold of movement, trapped within a condition of inertia.

Through minimal, almost imperceptible movement, Standstill suggests that even within states of crisis and stagnation, the possibility for transformation and renewal may still emerge.

The project is initiated by the curatorial platform unarchived_semiotics in collaboration with AFA - Art Foundation Anagi.
